Planning a trip to Marrakech is already a little dream come true. But knowing what to pack can make the difference between feeling like a tourist… or feeling like part of the enchantment. Whether you’re leaving for a weekend or a week, this is our essential guide to traveling light, elegant, and always comfortable, from the souk to the riad terrace.
Marrakech’s climate is dry and often very hot during the day. Choose garments in linen, cotton, muslin, or silk. Perfect choices: maxi dresses, wide-leg pants, and flowing shirts. Also yes to long caftans, ideal for dinners in the patio or afternoons in the gardens.

To explore the medina with discretion, it’s always good to have a scarf, pashmina, or lightweight shirt to wear over your shoulders. Not out of obligation, but out of respect — and for charm.
The streets of the medina aren’t made for heels. Go for leather sandals with comfortable soles, or refined espadrilles. In the evening, for dinner, you can opt for a low jeweled sandal.
A glamorous touch that’s also a necessity. The Moroccan sun is no joke, even in winter.
Don’t forget sunscreen, a good lip balm, and your favorite perfume. To get into the spirit of the place, bring pure argan oil with you or buy it directly from a local cooperative.

During the day, it’s better to have a crossbody or mini bag that’s secure and lightweight. For shopping in the souks, however, a canvas tote will come in very handy.
The riad terrace is the perfect place for mint tea and a few pages to savor in silence.
Marrakech is a sensory, elegant, intense city. Bring garments that make you feel good, breathable materials, a few carefully chosen accessories… and space in your suitcase for what you’ll find there.
